Fiddler on the Roof

The perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart for the holidays

Set in the little village of Anatevka, the story centers on Tevye, a poor milkman, and his five daughters. With the help of a colorful and tight-knit Jewish community, Tevye tries to protect his daughters and instill them with traditional values in the face of changing social mores and the growing anti-Semitism of Czarist Russia. Rich in historical and ethnic detail, Fiddler on the Roof’s universal theme of tradition cuts across barriers of race, class, nationality, and religion, leaving audiences crying tears of laughter, joy, and sadness. Winner of nine Tony® Awards when it debuted in 1964, Fiddler is a classic not to be missed!

A Christmas Carol
adapted, staged, and performed by Allen Fitzpatrick

Allen Fitzpatrick brings his acclaimed solo show to Tacoma Little Theatre!

His 4th year of performing “A Christmas Carol,” Allen follows in the footsteps of Charles Dickens who, a few years after writing the novella, began public readings of it— which he continued to perform until the year of his death. Allen performs 26 characters, telling the entire story in one hour.

Allen has spent 50 years on Broadway and in professional theatre, working alongside such notables as Stephen Sondheim, Andrew Lloyd-Webber, Harold Prince, John Guare, and Marvin Hamlisch. He debuted on Broadway in Les Miserables; among his eight other Broadway credits are Driving Miss Daisy (with James Earl Jones), The Scarlet Pimpernel, Damn Yankees (with Jerry Lewis), and 42nd Street. He was the stand-by for John Lithgow in Sweet Smell of Success, directed by Sir Nick Hytner.  Allen shared an Emmy Award for his contribution to Passion: Live from Lincoln Center, in which he appeared opposite Patti LuPone. He starred opposite Petula Clark in Sunset Boulevard, with Keith Michell in Lloyd-Webber's Aspects of Love, and with Marlo Thomas in Six Degrees of Separation. He has appeared in 28 productions at Seattle’s 5th Avenue Theatre, was featured in several Broadway national tours, and played a leading role in the premiere of Whistle Down the Wind directed by Hal Prince. He has appeared often on television

Lorca in a Green Dress

TLT and UWT bring Pulitzer Prize-winner, Nilo Cruz’s surrealist play to life

Lorca in a Green Dress pays homage to Federico García Lorca, writer of Gypsy Ballads, Mariana Pineda, and Play Without a Title.  Lorca was killed by fascist forces on August 19, 1936 in the opening days of the Spanish Civil War. Upon his death, the great Spanish poet arrives in the “Lorca Room” in purgatory where he learns he will be quarantined for the next 40 days. With dramatic and sensual flamenco flair, Lorca in a Green Dress is a spellbinding exploration of the life and death of Lorca. Five different actors portray aspects of the poet’s personality in a surrealistic landscape that questions what it means to die, to live, to create and to love.

Bug

The line between reality and delusion blurs in this thriller

The play centers on the meeting between Agnes, a lonely divorcee, and Peter, a soft-spoken Gulf War drifter. Agnes stays at a seedy motel in hopes of avoiding her abusive ex-husband, Jerry. At first, she lets Peter sleep platonically on her floor, but not long after he is promoted to the bed. Matters become more complicated as Jerry eagerly returns expecting to resume their relationship. On top of that, there’s a hidden bug infestation that has both Agnes and Peter dealing with scathing welts and festering sores—which has Peter believing this is the result of experiments conducted on him during his stay at an Army hospital. Their fears soon escalate to paranoia, conspiracy theories and twisted psychological motives.
